Tiara Twin

Slimline Framed Double Glazed

With all the benefits of the Tiara single glazed frameless stacking folding doors, the Tiara Twin adds thermal and acoustic insulation into an
already great product.

Utilising two layers of 6mm glass combined with a 12mm air gap, the insulated glass panels offer up to 5 times the insulation of single
glazing. If your entertainment or living space is affected by external factors like excessive noise or when closed the inside space gets
uncomfortably warm, Tiara Twin is your answer.

While the stacking folding side of the Tiara system remains unchanged, due to the overall 24mm thickness of the glass panes, a slimline
aluminum frame is introduced to perfectly seal the double glazing from panel to panel.

This minimally intrusive frame is the slimmest on the market.

Specifically designed for homes, restaurants, and commercial buildings, this system has been internationally tested and certified.

The system can applied to curved balconies from 85°to 275°.

Frequently Asked Questions

What defines a Slimline Framed Double Glazed Sliding Door?
A door system featuring highly engineered aluminum profiles that are exceptionally thin (often 20mm to 35mm sightlines), combined with high-performance double glazing.
What is the "Sightline" and why is it important?
The sightline is the visible width of the frame where two sliding panels meet (the interlock). A slimmer sightline means less frame and more glass, maximizing the view.
What is the benefit of Double Glazing?
Double glazing uses two panes of glass separated by a sealed cavity, which significantly improves thermal insulation and sound reduction compared to single glazing.
Do these doors offer good thermal efficiency?
Yes. They incorporate use double glazing to achieve excellent U-values (low U-values mean better insulation).
Are the frames truly slim?
Yes, the visible vertical frames are often as narrow as 20mm. The surrounding outer frame is often thicker but is usually designed to be recessed into the wall structure.
Where are these doors commonly used?
They are predominantly used as high-end external doors in residential extensions and modern new builds, connecting interior spaces to patios or gardens.
How do they handle large glass panels?
They are engineered to hold massive panes of glass. The glass is often structurally bonded to the frame, using the glass itself as a core structural element.
Are they secure?
Yes, modern slimline systems incorporate robust multi-point locking mechanisms, high-strength aluminum, and often use laminated or toughened safety glass, meeting relevant security standards.
What type of handle is typically used?
To maintain the minimalist aesthetic, handles are often discreetly integrated into the interlock profile, such as full-height, recessed pull handles.
Can the tracks be recessed for a flush threshold?
Yes, most quality slimline systems are designed for full outer frame and track recessing, creating a virtually seamless, flush transition between the indoor and outdoor floor levels.
How many tracks can they have?
They can be configured with two, three, four or even five tracks, allowing a greater number of panels to stack behind one another and increasing the clear opening.
Can they be motorized?
No
What glass options are available?
Numerous options: Low-E (low-emissivity) coatings, solar control glass, acoustic (sound-dampening) glass, laminated glass, and sometimes integral blinds between the panes.
Are they heavy to operate?
Despite the weight of the glass, the high-quality roller mechanisms (especially Lift-and-Slide) are designed to make operation smooth and effortless.

Despite the weight of the glass, the high-quality roller mechanisms (especially Lift-and-Slide) are designed to make operation smooth and effortless.
Are these doors weather-resistant?
Yes, they are engineered and tested to high standards for air permeability, water tightness, and wind load resistance, making them suitable for exposed locations.
Why are they generally more expensive?
The price reflects the complex engineering, the structural bonding process, the high-quality double-glazed units, the slim profiles, and the advanced running gear/locking systems.
What is "structural bonding"?
It’s a manufacturing process where the glass is chemically bonded to the aluminum profile, making the glass an integral part of the door’s structure and allowing for the incredibly slim frames.
What colors are available for the frames?
The aluminum frames are typically powder-coated and are available in hundreds of RAL colors, often including textured or metallic finishes. Dual-color options are also possible.
Can they be designed for a corner opening?
Yes, systems with an “open corner” configuration (where the corner post is removed when the doors are open) are a popular feature, creating a fully open space.
Do the double-glazed units need maintenance?
The sealed double-glazed units are maintenance-free. If the seal fails (indicated by fogging or moisture between the panes), the entire unit needs to be replaced.
Do they come with a warranty?
High-quality systems usually come with a substantial warranty, covering the frames, glass unit seals, and hardware for a period often ranging to 10 years.
Can I have integral blinds with a slimline system?
Yes, some manufacturers offer double-glazed units with magnetic-controlled integral blinds housed within the sealed space between the glass panes.
How do I ensure the doors last a long time?
Regular light maintenance, such as cleaning the tracks and occasional lubrication of the running gear, will ensure optimal performance and longevity.
How does the visible frame width compare to Bifold Doors?
Slimline sliding doors have a significantly narrower frame sightline (often 20-35mm) compared to typical bifold doors, which are often 100mm+, providing a cleaner, less-interrupted view.
